In order to establish an official collaboration between Faculty of Land Management (FLM), Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) and Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University, a delegation of led by Assoc.Prof. Tran Trong Phuong – Vice Dean and Dr Ngo Thanh Son – Senior Lecturer, paid an official working visit to Faculty of Forestry, Kasesart University (KU) on 28th-29th November, 2018. Receiving the delegation were Dr.Nikhom Laemsak , Dean of Forestry Faculty, Dr. Surin Onprom – Vice Dean- International Affairs, Dr. Pasuta Sunthornhao- Vice Dean- Academic Service and Innovation, and representative leaders and lecturers, Faculties of Forestry and students who are currently studying at Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University

At the meeting, both sides introduced and exchanged information on human resources, training, and research capacity, as well as their abilities to collaborate in the field of land management, land use modelling, forestry, soil and water conservation, watershed management, and GIS and RS application in natural resources management.


According to Assoc.Prof. Tran Trong Phuong- Vice Dean, Land Management Faculty, VNUA, in the near future, FLM would like to promote student and staff exchanges. We would also like to invite Kasetsart professors to review articles for VNUA journal, to teach and work as consultants for high-tech agricultural centers at FLM, VNUA, to jointly organize international workshops in Vietnam and Thailand, to hold summer courses for students, and to send students for credit exchange. The two sides will develop joint proposals in the form of the Vietnam-Thailand Protocol with focus on land management, forestry, soil and water conservation, and GIS and RS application in natural resources management. Both sides should cooperate to write joint articles to increase international publications in the specialized English journals.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides formally agreed to promote joint collaborations in training and research by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. The Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University affirmed to shortly inform VNUA of dual programs and the contact person so that bilateral actions could be visualized. The MOU will be the official platform to enhance the collaboration between Faculty of Land Management, VNUA and the Faculty of Land Management, Kasetsart University in the future.
