On the afternoon of June 6th, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), HE. Tran Hong Ha paid a working visit to Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA). Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa, Deputy Minister Vo Tuan Nhan, representative leaders of departments and institutes of MONRE and the Institute of Natural Resources and Environmental Training accompanied the Minister.

Welcoming the MONRE delegation were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan – VNUA’s President, Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien - Chairman of VNUA’s Board of Trustees, representatives of University Communist Party Committee, Board of Trustees, faculties, supportive units, and scientists in the field of environment and land management.

Opening the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan expressed the honor of VNUA to receive the delegation of MONRE. She emphasized that the leaders and staff of VNUA will always try their bests to together with MONRE improve the natural environment and conserve Vietnam’s natural resources better.

At the meeting, VNUA’s leaders presented to the delegation the University’s achievements in training, scientific research, international cooperation and the main research directions of VNUA in the field of environment and land. The leaders and staff of VNUA also discussed their views on training high-quality human resources for the sector, developing land use and management mechanisms, solutions for the environment, and connecting smart agricultural development with environmental protection.

To conclude the meeting, Minister Tran Hong Ha praised and appreciated the contribution of VNUA to the training of human resources in the natural resources and environment sector. The Minister hoped that scientists of VNUA, especially those in the field of environment and land management, could take part in policy consultation, lead and participate in scientific research projects related to this sector.

He believed that the enthusiasm, passion for science of the lecturers, staff, and students of VNUA will partly improve the cooperation between MONRE and VNUA. This cooperation addresses the issues not only of natural resources and the environment, but also Vietnam’s economic development, moving Vietnam to new development projection where a circular economy will be promoted.
